Grateful 365 Day Thirty-four

Bubble Aloft in Sunset

Sundays are typically my most difficult days to get motivated to make new photos – and today was no different.  I think part of the reason it is so difficult is because we are generally so busy on Sundays.  We “go to church” in the morning and are nearly always the last to leave before we head home to a late lunch and get a couple hours of house work (or rest when we can get it), then it’s back to the church building for evening assembly. By the time we get home it is usually after 9 and our focus is getting the kiddos to bed. By the time they’re in bed, Sue and I are flat worn out and will usually spend an hour or so watching TV or reading to help wind down.

So now that I’ve laid out all my excuses for not generally posting on Sundays I have one to post – which makes it a momentous day!  After the evening message we were all outside enjoying the wonderful weather and to help keep the kids entertained, Crystal Hopper was making bubbles with some dollar store bubble wands.  The sun was just beginning to set and the light was perfect for making photos so I put my 55-300 mm lens on and was shooting the expression on the kids’ faces.  Being a rather cool night for June, the bubbles had a tendency to stay aloft for quite a while (at least the ones that escaped the kids did) and as one floated closer and closer I made a few quick exposures while in manual focus.  The photo below is my favorite of the set.

Bubbles are wonderfully beautiful things that remind me how the simple things in life are worthy of my Gratitude.
