Grateful 365 Day Nine

Wow! I have really big feet!

I was determined to get outside and make a photo for today so I took some time during my lunch hour to go to one of my favorite parks, Riverfront Park, just across Interstate 90 from my house.  Riverfront is home to many hundreds of birds and during this time of the year one can observe many baby birds of all sorts.  Today there were many Canadian goslings of varying ages testing out their down-covered wings while staying close to mom.  Having grown up in rural Montana, my parents had geese while I was growing up and I learned at a very young age just how protective domestic mother geese are with their young.  I can only assume that wild mother geese are even more so and such being the case, I was careful to stay out of their way as much as possible.  The shot I got today was with my 55-300mm lens at 300mm which left plenty of room between me and the mothers. For more photos from this shoot, visit my Picasa site.

I am grateful for these baby honkers because it reminds me of the miracle of life – especially of new life and how God’s creation speaks of His eternal power and majesty.  It still boggles my mind how anyone can look at the miracle of life and say that it is nothing more than the result of a “cosmic accident.”  Reminds me of a particular scripture verse from the first chapter of Paul’s letter to the Romans, “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.” – Romans 1:20

I am Grateful for the New Life of Spring.
